About the Owners

The Campbells are a brother-sister team who have a strong sense of family. Patrick, Stephen, and Christine are three of 6 children who, throughout their lives, have worked hard and played hard. They purchased the Keystone Inn as a place to create a space where people can retreat, play, work, and relax with friends, family, and colleagues.

The Campbells are excited to be part of the Gettysburg Community and are dedicated to supporting local businesses. Local orchards, butchers, and dairy products are featured in the Keystone Inn breakfast fare. You will see some of our favorite eateries on our Innkeepers Picks! As members of Destination Gettysburg, our guests have access to activities happening in Gettysburg. Our goal is to ensure our guests have an authentic Gettysburg Experience!

1913 to Today

This magnificent, late-Victorian house, built in 1913 for Clayton S. Reaser and his family, is a delightful addition to Historic Gettysburg. Locals say it cost $25,000 to build. Clayton, his wife Anna, and their seven children, along with Clayton’s two maiden sisters and his father, occupied all three floors. Clayton was the owner of the Reaser furniture factory and the Gettysburg furniture factory. Locals fondly remember summer dances on the big wrap-around porch of the Keystone Inn.

The house passed hands a few times and to the College. Eventually Paul Martins bought it in 1987. Paul, (a son of Clayton and Anna) remembers sitting on the front porch swing and watching the trains go by (two blocks away) and snow so deep he would jump off the porch roof into the snowbank. The Martins spent a year stripping woodwork and scraping off paint and wallpaper, restoring it to its original beauty. The Martins opened their bed and breakfast inn in 1988. The Campbells purchased the Keystone Inn in August 2020.

Sustainability

DECIDEDLY GREEN

Hotels are big offenders when it comes to sustainability. We invested heavily in conserving water and energy in our herculean renovation. Sustainable materials were built into everything. Day to day, our ultra soft cotton sheets are not over-bleached nor ironed into cardboard planks. The future is green and we're a small part of it.
